Hey Bawse Moms!
As a fellow Bawse Mom who continues to navigate the wild yet wonderful journey of motherhood while hustling in the entrepreneurial world, I can tell you firsthand that it's no easy task. Oh.. and don't forget I am still balancing my corporate job! Balancing the demands of being a mom with the challenges of running a business requires a whole lot of grit, determination, and a sprinkle of prayer + meditation. Today, I want to share with you three major challenges I've faced on this rollercoaster ride, and how I've managed to overcome them (most of the time).
- Not Having Enough Time:Let's be real – there are only 24 hours in a day, and it often feels like I need at least 48 to get everything done. Between daycare runs, bae time, meal prep, my corporate job, potty training, and night routines , finding time to focus on my business can feel like a Herculean task. I've had to get creative with my schedule, waking up before the crack of dawn or burning the midnight oil after everyone is asleep just to squeeze in some time on my lunch break or in between calls. But I've also learned the power of technology and prioritizing tasks– saying goodbye to trying to remember everything and just going with the wind every day. Learning to prioritize my time with a calendar and project management system has been a game-changer, allowing me to dedicate precious moments to growing my business without sacrificing precious moments with my family and self-care time.
- Staying Consistent in My Business and Brand:Consistency is key in the world of entrepreneurship, but when you're juggling a million and one responsibilities as a mom, it's easy to let things slip through the cracks. I've struggled with maintaining a consistent presence in my business especially on social media and nurturing my brand while also keeping up with the ever-changing needs of my family and day job. But over time, I've come to realize that confidence in my vision is the secret sauce to staying consistent. When I truly believe in what I'm doing and the impact it can have, it becomes easier to show up every day, even when I'm running on fumes. Surrounding myself with a supportive community of fellow Bawse Moms who lift me up when I'm feeling low has also been a game-changer – we're in this together, ladies!
- Understanding if the Business Serves Me as a Mom:This one's a toughie. As moms, we're often told that we can have it all – the successful career, the happy family, the picture-perfect life. But the truth is, not every business venture aligns with our values as moms, and that's okay. I've grappled with the question of whether my businesses truly serve me as a mom, whether it brings me joy and fulfillment without draining me of precious time and energy. Letting go of the guilt and giving myself permission to reassess and pivot when necessary has been liberating. My business should enhance my life as a mom, not detract from it, and recognizing when it's time to course-correct has been a powerful lesson in self-love and authenticity. So with that being said, this year I decided to let go of my first side hustle that broke me intro the entrepreneurial world, Ashlei's Adventures, my travel agency. As a mom it took too much time away from my time and family time with no true purpose and passion for it. So if you're thinking of letting a business or brand idea go, sit and reflect on your purpose and values.
So there you have it, mama– three challenges I've faced on this wild ride of motherhood and entrepreneurship. It's messy, it's chaotic, and it's absolutely beautiful. Remember, you're not alone in this journey, and your worth as a mom and a business owner is immeasurable. Keep hustling, keep shining, and never forget the badass bawse that you are!
